Welder / Pipe Fitter

Summary: The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to satisfy the following functions/services:

  • Operate forklift to move equipment and loads to work area.
  • Ability to read and interpret Blue prints and isometric drawings. Work from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches.
  • Ability to lift and move drums up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations and fractions,
  • Work safely with and around toxic and corrosive chemicals and must be willing to wear proper safety equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, chemical resistant suit, dust mask, rubber gloves, respirator, safety boots, rain protection gear, apron and other equipment as required.
  • Field/Outdoors work including fabrication, erection, fitting and assembly of pipe and other equipment and at various heights as needed.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds and in pits.
  • Ability to operate threading machine.
  • Ability and knowledge to use various power tools such as grinders, cutters, drills, etc.
  • Ability and knowledge to use plasma cutter and gas cutting equipment.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel piping 1” through 6” using Heliarc/Arc welding.
  • Knowledge and fabrication of loading platforms, staircases, davits, structural supports, etc. using various welding techniques.
  • Ability and knowledge to perform general fire safety tasks and fire equipment, extinguishers, etc.
  • Ability to pass and become a certified welder within the first 3 months and as often as required.
